Whatcom County Family to Family

Working in partnership to assure children and families are safe and connected to their communities.

Our Goals

  • Provide the services birth families and children need in a timely manner.
  • Develop a network of caregivers that is safe, culturally sensitive, and located primarily in communities where children currently live.
  • Ensure that DCFS and the community are working together with families for timely reunification and permanency to assure our children's safety and well-being.
  • Increase the number of quality foster and kinship families.
  • Increase collaboration with schools to ensure maximized support to children and to make every effort to allow the child to remain in the same school community if placement is required.
  • Reduce the number and rate of children placed away from their birth families.

xThe Network legally operates under the  501(c)(3) private nonprofit  "Whatcom County Commission on Children and Youth" and is affiliated with the Washington State Family Policy Council, a family-community-state partnership that helps prevent child abuse and neglect, youth substance abuse and supports school success and other issues concerning families.
